White Friday 1916
In Dec 1916 during WW1, Austrian and Italian soldiers battled in they alps of Europe. They both had the same plans and same ideas. Both sides decided to cause an avalanche on one another. On December 13th approximately 200,000 tonnes of snow, rock and ice fell down the mountain directly onto Austrian soldiers. The same thing happened over the next few weeks with lots of heavy snow eventually killing between 9,000 and 10,000 lives. This is the worst snow avalanche disaster ever recorded in history.
